Irvin Johnston(Jan 13,1914 - March 26,2001)
founder of the Rutledge Flea Market Gun & Dog exchange in Rutledge,MO. He is
sadly missed by all. He was a avid member of the community and an auctioneer for
many years. Irvin and his Brother Ivan enjoyed going to many auctions. He
started the Rutledge Dog and gun exchange in a barn located in the town of
Rutledge. He had field trials and water races there and got the Rutledge
community involved by letting them set up a food stand there. Since then
he has helped many local groups such as FFA, 4-H and other non-profit
organizations by letting them operate concession stands. Then things started to
grow and he moved to a location closer to Baring. Then as things progressed more
he moved to a location close to Colony. From Then on I think he realized he had
to buy his own ground and the rest is history.... It is now a multi-acre event
known nation wide.
