MOTORCROSS
The high-flying bikers of the American Motorcycle Association (AMA)
motorcross will be traveling to Memphis for the 2nd stop on a seven-event county
fair supercross championship scheduled for this summer across Illinois and
Missouri.
"This is the same thing you see on ESPN with the bikes flying high except
instead of being in a big-city stadium this will be at the Scotland County
Fairgrounds", said promoter Mike Burkhart of Midwest Motorsports.
The fair race will be a District 18 points paying event that could draw
anywhere from 150-200 bikers from across the Midwest.
The motorcross at the SC Fair will begin at 5:00 p.m. with sign-in for the
bikers. The motorcycles will take to the course beginning at 6:00pm with
the qualifying beginning at 7:00 p.m. The event features five-lap
qualifying races prior to the 10-lap main events.
The action will be separated into three divisions, four wheel classes, youth
bikes and big bikes.
The four wheel division is divided into 50 peewee, 90 junior (4-7 years old),
90 senior (8-11 years old), four wheel A Pro, four wheel B, four wheel C, four
wheel beginner and four wheel (30 and over)
The youth bike division breaks down into the 50 junior class (4-6 years old),
50 senior (7-8 years old), 85 junior (7-11 years old), 85 senior (12-15 years
old), 85 beginner and 85 open.
There are eight different classes in the big bike division. The larger
motorcycles will be broken into the 250 pro, 250 B, and 250 C. Also
running will be the 125 Pro, 125 B, 125 C, beginner and 30 and over classes.
The sign-up fee for participants is 30.00 and pit passes will cost 7.00 for
all participants and pit crew members.
